ESO Regional Finals

 Esports Ohio Regional Finals

   After a super long and drawn out week of gaming. The Northwest region of Ohio finally was able to settle the dust between the surrounding high schools. The road has been long and their were many matches and parents that stopped by to watch their students succeed and qualify for the State Finals. The games that were played were Super Smash Bros, Overwatch 2, Rocket League, Fortnite and Valorant. We will run through each telling you who qualified for the State Finals which will take place in Akron, OH. First and second place moved on to these finals. 

Super Smash Bros

Super Smash Bros is a very popular game with millions of players world wide. Esports Ohio has a really well developed scene when it comes to Super Smash Bros. Within the Northwest region we held an 16 team bracket were only two teams would move on to state. The matches started at 10 am and ended around 4pm on day one of the event. The two teams that would move on to the state finals are Northview and St. Marys. With Northview winning it all to take home the regional trophy.

Valorant

Valorant would also take place on day one and start at 10 am as well. Valorant had a 6 team bracket with two teams getting a bye to start the day. All teams put on a really good showing but only one was able to leave on top. That was Southview high school taking it in the finals against Shawnee Lima. Both will move on to the State competition and we wish them both luck. 

Fortnite

Fortnite was our weird game of the weekend. They would actually compete here for their state finals competing against other regions and each other online. Northwest region put up really good numbers and actually won one match and came second in another putting them in first to take it all. 

Overwatch 2

Overwatch 2 would start off day 2 at around 7 am and would go till 4pm. Buckeye central looked unstoppable throughout not dropping a single map until the finals where they lost to Northview 4-0. Northview would take home another trophy and better seeding at the state finals. 

Rocket League 

Rocket League would end off our second day. Starting at around 4pm and ending at 8pm. The two teams that would make it to the final in Akron will be Pickerington and Shawnee. Shawnee would also take another trophy home with a dominate 4-0 victory in the finals. 

We wish all the teams the best of luck at state. We hope to see a school within the Northwest region take home a state trophy.
