E-sports End of the season

 Esports

Esports for the spring semester are closing on us quick. Which is going to leave me in a weird spot with the blog so I will transition into talking more about the work that I do here for the program. For now we still had another week of Esports so lets dive into it.

Valorant

Valorant just played their final match of the season and sadly lost in a very close battle against Kirkwood University. This was the team that they had a very long game with during the regular season. The match ended up lasting around fifty minutes to an hour long for a single map. ONU lost that match 1-2. This would be the same result in the playoffs closing the ONU Valorant season on a hard fought lost.

Overwatch

Overwatch online seasons are over however they are still traveling down to Columbus Friday and Saturday to compete in the GLEC playoffs. This conference is important as it houses teams like Mount Union, Heildberg, Trine, and others within this region. They will look to bring the title home.

Rocket league

Rocket League varsity is in the same boat as Overwatch. They will also be traveling down to Columbus at the same time as Overwatch to compete in GLEC playoffs as well. This would be a huge when for Rocket League as this may be their first conference win so wish them luck!

League of Legends

League of Legends varsity team is no longer competing for the year. Junior varsity is still fighting in their online conferences. They won their match last week for ECAC in a easy sweep they will look to bring the force of the polar bears in their match this Friday.

Overall

While the seasons are slowing down for many of our teams. We have exciting things happening within the program in the upcoming weeks. First, 2k tournament happening April 16. Next we have Esport Ohio hosting their regional finals at ONU. Esport Ohio is a high school league that majority of high schools compete in. The winner will go play in a tournament at Akron for the state finals. We are privileged to assist the conference with their regional and hope to one day host the state final.

Till next time Polar Bear Nation!!!
