Week 5 of Esports

 Week 5 of Esports

Another late post truly sorry things are getting more and more hectic as the semester keeps churning. However, that is an excuse so will waste no more time and get into our results for last weeks matches.

Valorant

Valorant started off this week being streamed Monday and Tuesday with some amazing matches. Junior Varsity would be the first to compete. Taking on South Dakota State University and sweeping them in the series overall. They would go into Wednesday with a lot of momentum but not enough to break through the wall that is Lander University. Having the same score line that they gave out earlier in the week. We also saw varsity action for the first time in a long time on stream. With them taking on Columbia College in the grand finals of the MEC LAN tournament. ONU fought through the losers bracket to make it to the grand finals. They would end up taking the series by the horns and dominating their opponents beating them 2-0. However, through a lot of confusion this would not be the end of the tournament as a bracket reset was called making it even ground for both teams. Leaving the final match to be played in week 6. For now we will have to wait for the results of the grand finals.

Overwatch 2

Overwatch had 7 different matches throughout this week. So we will be running through the teams they faced and the wins and losses. Valparaiso, Marion Technical Institute and Defiance College all losing 3-0 to ONU varsity moving them to 8-2 for GLEC. They would also play in two matches for Blizzard League taking both those matches 2-0 as well making them 3-1 in that league. The other 2 matches for ECAC ended up canceled do to forfeits by the other teams. Junior varisty would play in one match Behrend losing to them 0-3.

Rocket League

Rocket League is next and had a pretty basic week with only one match for both varsity and junior varsity. Varsity would take on Valparaiso and junior varsity took on SAGU. Both teams would find the win in their ECAC match ups.

League of Legends

League of Legends varsity had a good week finding the win in both matches they played for MEC. Briar Cliff was the first to fall 2-1 and then Drury was close behind with 2-0 lost to ONU. This only leaves junior varsity left and early in the week they could not find their footing and lost to SHSU 0-2. However, they would end strong by dominating Saint Lawrence 2-0.

  1. Hi Dray! Your life seems hectic and I totally get it. We are on week 6 and I have never been more ready for spring break...and summer. Thankfully, we do not have to wait much longer! The e-sports life also seems ridiculously busy and stressful and competitive. Does your team ever travel around the state or out of state for tournaments? Is everything on ONU computers or do you use your own PC?
