Week 3 of ONU E-sports
Week 3
Hello all, I hope your fourth week of school was easier than your last. Our ONU E-sports team had a lot of competition this week. With a few hiccups in production. As the whole program had a lot going on though out the week. We had 4 teams all traveling over the weekend. So lets get into it and go over the recap.
Valorant
Valorant JV had their first match up of the NACE season against University of Massachusetts Amherst. ONU Valorant came out swinging in the first match winning the first match in a definitive 13-4 match. UMASS was left to looking for answers all match but all it took was a map switch. They would take the next match in a heartbreaking loss for ONU 11-13. Map three was a close battle for ONU in the first half. However they brought the heat in the second half taking out UMASS 13-6. Valorant was not done for the week as both varsity and junior varsity traveled over the weekend. Varsity headed out to Jacksonville to compete at a LAN event held at Illinois College. Where they competed all night and day to make it to the grand finals which will be played this Thursday. So they will bring home some cash win or lose. Junior Varsity traveled to Columbus OH. to compete in Belong's spike rush tournament. They competed well but came up short winning 2 out of their 5 matches.
Rocket League
Rocket League seeing another week of NACE competition. Where they would fine themselves beating OTSU in easy sweep. Varsity matches would not end as they also traveled to Jacksonville IL. They would end up winning it all and bring home some cash to line their pockets. Their junior varsity counterparts would end up staying home and competing in NACE as well winning their match against Pittsburgh.
Overwatch 2
Overwatch was the only game not to travel this week. They stayed home and competed in GLEC which was unfortunately a lose 1-3. Overwatch junior varsity would also lose in there match against Newberry for ECAC. Both teams will be looking to have a stronger week.
League of Legends
League of legends junior varsity would compete in ECAC against SHU and give them the broom. Sweeping the series 2-0 moving ONU to 2-0 on the season. ONU varsity would see victory at the start of the week in the MEC against Purdue. Then would go into the weekend traveling to Jacksonville IL. to take on both Illinois college and Illinois university. They would lose to the university but beat the college. The tournament was an extension of MEC so ONU would move to 3-3 in the league.
